"Kisses From Katie"

On this "Motherhood Monday", I can't help but be reminded that motherhood comes in all shapes and sizes.  I myself fit into a sort of different mother category, as does this inspiring new mom.

In 2006, Katie Davis was a normal 18 year old, from Brentwood, TN who visited Uganda on a mission trip.  Little did she know that this trip would forever change the course of her life and the lives of untold women and children in Uganda and beyond.  Her story is a breathtaking reminder that openness to God's calling in our lives leads us down the most unexpected yet most glorious paths.

Katie started Amazima Ministries as a way to support education, outreach, discipleship, and vocational projects for women and children in Uganda.  Katie's love story for Uganda hardly stopped there as she eventually felt compelled to move full-time to Uganda and to adopt 13 Ugandan children of her own.

In her own words, Katie said, "People tell me I am brave. People tell me I am strong. People tell me good job. Well here is the truth of it. I am really not that brave, I am not really that strong, and I am not doing anything spectacular. I am just doing what God called me to do as a follower of Him. Feed His sheep, do unto the least of His people."

One of the most lovely Christmas gifts we received this year was from my parents--a sponsorship of a child through Amazima Ministries (it currently sponsors over 575 individual children each year).  This small gift literally changed the life of this precious baby girl, paying for a year's worth of

education/uniform/supplies at a Christian school, 3 meals a day, discipleship and spiritual growth activities for her family.
