Get 'Em While They're Hot!
Several weeks ago, I shared the pretty negative follow-up appointment I had with my eye surgeon (post on "Seeing Red"). I asked for prayers that we would be diligent in moisturizing my eye and that the cornea would get healed so that when we return to the doctor on November 14th, he will be satisfied with the progress and not undo the gold weight/eyelid lift surgery that he performed on me in July.

Since then, we've diligently tried to add moisture to my eye many times throughout the day, figuring out new ways to tape it up at night (currently, we're trying the nasal strips that people use prevent snoring at night), and praying like crazy that our efforts would be successful and my red, dry and poor-seeing eye could somehow, someday be healed.

After the eye surgeon appointment, we subsequently visited two other eye doctors (yes, I see 3 different eye specialist at the Jules Stein Eye Institute), the one who did my strabismus surgery (for the crossed right eye) and the cornea specialist, who actually found a small tear on my cornea. This prompted a contact to be put in and antibiotics and lots of back and forth and waiting. Well, funny enough, we went back in on a random day when I had to go to UCLA for my yearly MRI, so only one cornea doctor was on call. This was a totally different doctor than I normally see. At the end of the appointment, Jay asked for the doctor to measure my eyes to just get some regular glasses for me, not to make my vision better but because I need to protect my good eye from accidents and keep moisture in my bad eye. He casually mentioned that there were some special goggle glasses that might be a good alternative to regular glasses. We literally walked next door to another eye doctor were seen and walked out with my new goggle glasses in 5 minutes--a new record for a doctor's appointment, for sure! (FYI, these glasses are called "Panoptx/7-Eye")

I tend to break sunglasses, so I have never in my life spent more than $10 on sunglasses. Needless to say, with the price tag of these glasses, I'm pretty sure they should have a Chanel logo on the side, but they definitely don't (hopefully Medicare will help pay!) I put on my extremely cool goggle glasses and went about my afternoon. I kid you not, after a few hours, I took off my spectacular new specs, and to my amazement, my eye wasn't red! These little puppies really did the trick--thank you, Lord!!

I wish I had gotten these a few years ago, but better late than never, I guess! The Lord is always so good in providing me everything I need. I am so thankful. I will let you know how the appointment goes this coming week. I am very hopeful, especially now that I have my new magic glasses.
