The Verdict is in.....
I WILL NOT HAVE MY EYE SURGERY REVERSED!!!

WOOHOO!!!
The doctor was very impressed by my well-moisturized right eye and the subsequent health of the cornea. ---So much so that he has asked us to write up the details of all the things we did so that he can share it with his (few) other facial paralysis patients.
All applause here should go to Jay (and my friend Lauren, actually.)

Jay is the one researching, asking the right questions, the one who came up with this new regime and is actually carrying it out. Lauren found the eye spray online that I am using throughout the day to moisturize (I then put on the goggles to trap the moisture inside).

Now, Jay Wolf is a BAR-certified California attorney. He could have directed himself into a great job making a pile of money at a law firm somewhere, maybe even hire some random person to drive me around/go with me to the doctor. Instead, he has chosen very wisely--- taken a lesser salary, less excitement (that's doubtful, actually), and opted to take care of his family. Perhaps an example to the world of sacrificial love.

If you were to subtract Jay from this equation, I think my recovery would be significantly behind what it is today. He has continued to prove that he is operating at a level far superior to how I think I would be in his shoes. (This is only one small reason I believe God brought us together).

Honestly, just now finding out about these goggle glasses has been a little frustrating as it would have been great to have known about them a few years ago. Maybe my eye would not have gotten so dried out if I would have had them in the past. However, Jay reminds me that doctors are not God and they are not perfect, they are "in the PRACTICE of medicine", not some 1-2-3, fill-in-the blank, scenario.

All of my doctors and the nurses and assistants are fabulous, and I owe them a tremendous gratitude for where I am in recovery today, but there has been a renewed sense that the greatest burden of my recovery falls on my shoulders, and thankfully, those of my family and friends too. My doctors certainly want me to be well; however, I am not the doctor's wife, daughter, or sister. Every time I try to convince Jay to get a friend/person we hire to drive/caretaker to drop me off at the doctor or whatever, he reminds me that "no one has more invested in you or your recovery than I do, I'm going".

How blessed I am that over 3 1/2 years after my stroke, Jay is still hanging with me as strong as ever. I can barely take the hours and hours of appointments myself! I know it cannot be easy, especially when the issues seem to keep coming and the progress seems so slow. Thank you, Jay. I love you so much!

***Sorry for all of these things***--- Mr. Wordpress rarely lets me space correctly and I am revolting. Mr. Wordpress, I WILL space this how I want to, thank you very much.
